Since 1953 the Edmar Abrasive Company has been a leading manufacturer of reinforced abrasive blades for cutting concrete, masonry and metal. In 1956 Edmar was the first in the U.S. to manufacture reinforced abrasive blades for portable high speed saws. Over the years Edmar engineering and research has created many products for use in the construction and metal fabricating industries and has been a leader in the development of a number of them.
Edmar’s reputation for quality in abrasives quickly carried over to the diamond product industry for concrete, masonry and stone. In May 1983, Edmar was the 2nd company in the U.S. to use the laser-welding process to manufacture dry cutting diamond blades. Then in 1984 Edmar was the first to develop the backing pad as part of the diamond segment for laser welding. This procedure virtually eliminated segment loss for all diamond blades. This backing pad is still used by more than 90% of the diamond segment manufacturing industry today.
Most recently Edmar is marketing the DiamondX product line for metal. These products are manufactured using a unique brazing process to offer much longer life and cost efficiency than abrasive cutting and grinding wheels. Now you can experience reduced sparking, less debris and no odor when working ferrous and non-ferrous metals, ceramics and polymers.
