Ecotrel is an organization approved by the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development to endorse the obligations of producers and importers of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) in accordance with the law of 9/06/2022.  In this context, Ecotrel was created in 2004 by 43 companies importing and producing electrical and electronic equipment following the publication of European directives which were subsequently transposed into national law. Ecotrel fulfills its mission by managing and financing the collection and treatment of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) which ends up in the collection structures set up by the municipalities and the State. In addition, Ecotrel guarantees on behalf of its members the future recycling of electrical and electronic equipment that they place on the market today.  The financing of Ecotrel's activities is therefore ensured by the collection of a recycling fee included in the sale price of electrical and electronic equipment when it is placed on the Luxembourg market.  At present, Ecotrel has among its members more than 750 companies of different sizes active in the sectors of household appliances, computers, audio-video, lighting, tools, toys, medical devices or safety instruments.
