At ECOsystems, we pride ourselves on having the most highly qualified, experienced and accredited group of energy efficiency specialists in New Zealand.

Our team is a combination of management professionals, controls, mechanical and electrical engineers, accredited energy auditors and Green Star professionals, along with some of New Zealand’s best lighting control experts, delivering a unique combination of skills and experience not available elsewhere.

While many organisations have expertise to assist with energy efficiency to some degree, the primary driver in maximising energy savings is for all systems to be properly commissioned and integrated. This requires an understanding of energy and line charging, control strategies to optimise the BMS, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, lighting and control systems, and experience at successfully integrating these systems in an efficient manner and measuring the results.

Our projects have demonstrated over and over again that, as the greatest wastage of energy in our buildings is simultaneous heating and cooling, when we reduce use we maximise comfort.

It is our expertise at successful integration across all these systems, with a pure energy efficiency and comfort focus, that makes us unique.

We are also independent of any product leaving us free to recommend the best solutions to maximise energy efficiency for our clients.

Frans Plugge, Executive Director

Frans established ECOsystems in 1995 with a view to offering an integrated energy efficiency service. He is responsible for developing company strategy and strategic alliances, business growth and representation on industry bodies. Frans completed a B.Ag.Com degree from Lincoln University before becoming a registered valuer and moving into management with Landcorp Property, where he established an integrated property consultancy in real estate, valuation and property development. Frans became Landcorp National Operations Manager in Wellington before leaving to further his energy efficiency ambitions.

Frans is on the Executive of the Energy Management Association of New Zealand (EMANZ).

Wayne Wootton, Non-Executive Director

Wayne is a founding shareholder of ECOsystems with substantial experience as a director and operator of businesses specialising in real estate, valuation, property consultation and tourism. Based in Nelson, Wayne is a previous winner of the Commerce Nelson Small Business of the Year Award & Nelson Tasman Tourism Accommodation of the Year Award.

Wayne currently specialises in providing valuation advice to accommodation and hospitality businesses and investors and in his spare time can be found tramping and travelling.
