MISSION AND OBJECTIVES

Ecopneus is the non-profit company for the tracing , collection , treatment and recovery of End of Life Tires (ELTs) , set up by the main tire manufacturers operating in Italy (Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear-Dunlop, Marangoni, Michelin and Pirelli), to which many other companies have joined over time. Based on art. 228 of Legislative Decree 152/2006 , tire manufacturers and importers are in fact obliged to manage a quantity of ELTs equal to that placed on the aftermarket in the previous calendar year, following the principle of extended producer responsibility.(Extended Producer Responsibility); an organizational model adopted by the majority of European countries.

The mission Ecopneus then results in ensuring tracing and recovery of an average of about 200,000 tons of Life Tires every year.

As required by the Regulations , in addition to providing for all the operations necessary to ensure a correct recovery of all ELTs under their responsibility, Ecopneus also fulfills on behalf of its shareholders the obligation of tracking and reporting to the Authorities , with a suitable IT system, in order to certify the quantitative flows of ELTs , from origin to collection and use, as well as economic reporting and reporting of the quantities annually released on the market. In case of failure to reach the targets, producers and importers will be subjected to a system of sanctions.

In parallel with the activities of managing the collection, transport, treatment and enhancement of ELTs under its own responsibility, Ecopneus ' commitment is also strong for the promotion of the applications of recycled rubber and in information and awareness initiatives for the creation of a " culture of recycling ".
