ECOPIL We are Ecology and Integrated Environments (ECOPIL) and we were established to start the activity of collecting batteries, from seeing how the European directives on waste such as electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) were already being transposed into Spanish Legislation, and We consider that it would later be expanded with a specific Royal Decree for producers of Batteries, Accumulators and Batteries. From here, we started carrying out environmental education campaigns by placing containers on public roads, in commercial premises, and in public buildings.

Royal Decree on Batteries and Accumulators

On February 1, 2008, Royal Decree 106/2008 was published, on batteries and accumulators and the environmental management of their waste, which entered into force on September 26 of that same year. Spain thus becomes one of the first countries to transpose Directive 2006/66/CE.

We are part of the AERPAM association, which was established in 2005 as the Association of Accumulator and Mobile Batteries Collectors in Spain. The headquarters are currently located in the Urraque Industrial Estate, s/n in the town of Yunquera de Henares, very close to Guadalajara.
