Ecological Living Center

Ecological Life Center, which was opened on June 5, 2018, World Environment Day, is located in Kemal Sunal Park at the address of Eğitim Mahallesi Hakkı Bey Street.

In the Ecological Life Center , announcements were made on the website of “ ecologyyasam.kadikoy.bel.tr ”; Weekday and weekend training and workshops are held on waste management, climate change, ecology and natural life for different age groups.

Ecological Living Center Project

The Ecological Life Center Building, consisting of a total area of ​​60 m 2 , is suitable for the theoretical and practical trainings it hosts; It has been designed in line with the principles of bio-climate-oriented design that considers ecology, ensures sustainability.

Straw bale, which is natural, healthy, high in heat performance and energy efficiency, resistant to earthquake and fire, and has a low ecological footprint, was preferred as the building material. The construction of the building was completed with the participation of 40 volunteers from different fields, using stacked straw bales, syrupy straw, compressed earth and natural plaster techniques. While heat pump was preferred in heating and cooling mechanics, passive solar positioning for lighting, wind turbine and rainwater collection system for water harvesting were included in the project.

In the area where ecological themes are brought together; There are also coops for children to gain a love for animals, raised plant beds to touch the soil and to get efficiency from planting and planting works.

In the “Ecological Living Center Project” 2018 Healthy Cities Best Practice Competition , in addition to its structural features, it offers a fun and scientific ecological education environment that we feel lacking in the city; It was deemed worthy of the Healthy City Planning Category award. The project is the first local government application in Turkey .
