For the past 78 years, Eastern Iowa REC has been working for and with rural consumers to provide quality electric service. As Iowa’s largest distribution electric cooperative, Eastern Iowa serves a diverse membership that includes traditional farm operations, rural housing areas, industrial and commercial developments, and recreational facilities. The Eastern Iowa rural service area covers all or portions of 12 counties, stretching along the Mississippi River, from Sabula in the north to Burlington in the south and west to Iowa City. Eastern Iowa has offices in DeWitt, Lone Tree and Wapello. The headquarters office complex is located in Wilton.
Eastern Iowa Light and Power Cooperative is the recipient of Federal financial assistance from the Rural Utilities Service, an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and is subject to the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, as amended, and the rules of regulations of the U.S. Department of Agriculture which provide that no person in the United States on the basis of their employment without regard to their age, attainment of benefits, citizenship, color, disability, gender identity, marital status, national origin, parental status, participation in union activity, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or status as a Vietnam-Era or disabled Veteran and any other protected class covered by law.

Eastern Iowa REC has a net metering tariff available for small, appropriate-sized alternate energy projects and Cooperative members pursuing renewable energy projects can also apply for 5% loan funds for their project. Loans are limited to 25% of the entire project cost with a cap of $3,000.
