In 1906 Harry K. Smith built the Riverside Foundry on the banks of the Susquehanna River in Wrightsville, PA. With $4,500 to invest Smith erected a brick building, bought a secondhand steam engine, and made his own cupola. Riverside poured two to three tons of iron a day in small castings, mostly locks, hinges and pulleys for the hardware market. Sales peaked at $117,000 in 1925 with Riverside employing 25 people, and then fell to $17,000 during the Depression.

Today, Donsco employs 350 people and supplies finished parts – manifolds, brackets, gear boxes, transmission housings, and pump castings – to industrial customers that include CNH, Xylem, Meritor and Liberty Pumps.
