DIVISION is a design & fabrication studio based in Brooklyn, NY. With a background in architecture, the studio has been involved in the production of projects across multiple scales and mediums, from interior renovations, to large-scale sculptural installations, to product and furniture design. Our care for materials and methods is an extension of our continuous investigation of digital techniques and new ways of making.
Brandt Graves received his Master of Architecture from Pratt Institute in 2009. Since then he has worked with several young, dynamic design practices and fabricators on projects involving an extensive range of scale and technique. He has designed projects for the New York offices Asymptote, Bureau V, Leong Leong, Acconci Studio, Evans & Paul, 212 Box, and Studio V. His recurrent work with SOFTlab, designing and fabricating large scale installations, contributed to their finalist award for the AIA’s New Practices New York. As an architectural designer for RAAD, he managed the Lowline, working as one of the lead designers and coordinators for the Imagining the Lowline exhibition. Currently he is an Adjunct Professor at The New School, and formerly an Architecture Associate at Columbia University, teaching digital techniques to urban designers within the Graduate School of Architecture Planning & Preservation. He has collaborated with theverymany, Marius Watz, and suckerPUNCH, and founded a design studio with his partner at thefuturefuture. His work has gained extensive exposure and he has been featured as Pratt select alumni.
