In 1926, Albert Diehl founded Diehl Steel in Cincinnati, Ohio to service the needs of one of America’s largest machine tool hubs. Developed from a tool and die background, “Big Al” Diehl knew the importance of responsive, efficient service coupled with high-quality products. After 90 years in business, that tradition of excellence continues today.

Over the ensuing decades, Diehl Tool Steel became an international distributor of tool steel, alloy steel, mold steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, CPM powder metal, aluminum pieces, and customized machining services.

We built our business on market knowledge and providing time saving additions to our product line. For example, DTS was among the first specialty metal centers to offer pre-squared material. To this day it saves our customers massive upfront costs and upkeep and allows quicker completion of finished goods and allows our customers to bring products to market more quickly.

After years of successful partnership and growth together as separate entities, Hitachi Metals America purchased Diehl Tool Steel in 2015. As a result, DTS is now the sole distributor of HMA proprietary grades that extend the useful life of many traditional steel applications.
