DeZURIK manufactures high quality long service life valves for the mining, municipal and power generators around the globe,The Sartell Paper Mill had a problem with pine pitch build-up on their valves. They looked to an inventive employee for a solution. His name was Matt DeZurik. Matt realized that if the sealing face of the plug could immediately pull away from the seat upon opening, the plug would avoid damage from pitch. He designed a valve with a segmented plug mounted on pivot bearings at each end of the shaft. The plug had a cam (eccentric) closure action against the raised body seat – a revolutionary development at the time. From that beginning, the DeZURIK Eccentric Valve was born in 1928.
