Arthur and Ruth DeVan founded their initial business in 1949, and developed it by producing and supplying oil-based caulking, putty, and glazing compounds to the local hardware market in St. Louis. They incorporated as Durable Putty Products in 1956. At its peak in local market share, Durable Putty Products supplied nearly every hardware store in the St. Louis metropolitan market. In 1966, the company reincorporated as deVan Sealants, Inc., and with expansions now occupies a 42,000 sq. ft. office, manufacturing, and warehouse complex. The company’s market focus gradually shifted from retail caulk and glazing products to manufacturing and supplying sealants to other manufacturers as an original equipment manufacturer. This continues to be our market focus, and today deVan Sealants supplies OEM industrial sealants for a variety of manufactured, construction, and commercial products. Since 1949, deVan Sealants, Inc. has supplied a wide variety of industries. Our formulae are 100% asbestos free and non-hazardous and non-toxic under normal containment and usages. deVan Sealants, Inc. has a wide variety of exclusively formulated cross-linked butyl tapes and pumpables and other industrial-use sealants. Cross-linked butyl compounds greatly enhance the bonding and increase long-term reliability. Our extruded tapes are asbestos free, non-hazardous and non-toxic and easy to apply. Our research and development laboratory can create custom formulations and colors to suit your specific sealant requirements
