Design Mechanical, Inc. (DMI) started in September 2003 and has grown to over 120 service technicians, over 175 employees and over 2000 customers. We are a mechanical construction / service company providing HVAC solutions to the commercial / industrial market.

HISTORY

We began working out of our cars! Not many start-ups can say that. Beginning in September 2003, two people came together to start a business that would be built on common sense, fairness and fun!

Design Mechanical opened for business on September 1, 2003. Many thought it wouldn’t last in such a poor economy. However, in our first full year of business, our revenue was over $9 million! Five years later, the revenues grew to over $20 million. It certainly didn’t grow that quickly on good looks alone; it was the career-long relationships of both Bill Iler and Mike Chieppo, along with a great office staff and highly experienced field crew that helped this company survive the start-up, and grow to what it is today.

Our headquarters is located off I-35 and Cambridge Circle. We’ve gone through two remodels in 7 years due to our growth. If you’re ever in the neighborhood, please feel free to stop by- we’d love to show you around!

During our first three years in business DMI became a Mechanical Service Contractor’s Association STAR Contractor. We were the first in Kansa City to achieve this prestigious certification. DMI also has achieved both the MCA and SMACNA safety excellence certificates every year since our inception.
