In 1980 two brothers bought a used truck, one portable welding machine, and asked a few friends to work out a 1000 sq ft shop on Waters Park Road in Austin TX. Today, Dennis Steel is owned and operated by David Dennis, and is situated in beautiful, Leander, Texas off of Highway 183. Our facility occupies 5 acres, and houses our main office, fabrication shop, erection fleet, and on-site maintenance department. Dennis Steel has grown to be the third largest steel fabrication and erection subcontractor in Texas. Although we have grown from a team of 6, to a family of approximately 100 people, we still hold strong to the same values and principles that Dennis Steel was built on over 30 years ago. In that time, we have never failed to successfully complete a project awarded to us.

 Over the past 30 years Dennis Steel has developed an excellent reputation as a turnkey structural steel fabrication and erection contractor. Dennis Steel takes great pride in satisfying its customers' needs and has worked with most of the major Central Texas general contractors for many years as a result of our commitment to our craft and excellent workmanship. Dennis Steel works with many different types of projects, from large scale commercial and industrial projects, all the way to small walk-in orders. There is no project or customer too big or too small, after all... we started with just one truck.

Our employees and our customers can take comfort in Dennis Steel's dedicated Safety Program, headed up by our full time Safety Manager. Our safety program consists of a written Safety Program, safety incentive programs, monthly fabrication shop inspections, and weekly on-site job inspections. We have teamed up with our workers compensation provider, Texas Mutual Insurance, and the Texas Department of Insurance to ensure our facility adheres to the highest of safety standards, and that our employees receive continuous training. Dennis Steel strictly adheres to OSHA regulations, and keeps safety as our number one concern in every aspect of our work and company planning.

We understand we are only as strong as the communities in which we operate. Dennis Steel, Inc. is a proud member of the Leander, Cedar Park, Lake Travis, and Georgetown Chamber of Commerce. We take pride in serving our community in whatever way we can, from donating our time, material and services to local law enforcement, emergency services, area school systems, sport teams and the Boy Scouts of America, to helping our surrounding communities in need. We also recognize that there are times we need to play an even greater role, when the situation hits home, and help is needed, such as the aid provided to the City of Bertram after the windstorm of June 11th 2009.  Dennis Steel Inc. is an AISC certified fabricator. This certification ensures our projects and processes are held to the highest quality standards in the industry. Our written quality management program manages every drawing and piece of material that goes through our shop. This begins with the design phase of the project. Project Managers ensure our detailers are provided accurate contract drawings, and that any and all requests for information are answered. Project Managers and Detailers work side by side to ensure the design drawings conform to contract specifications. The next phase of quality management takes place in the shop. From cutting and fitting, to final welding, our Quality Control manager ensures that every piece of material is fabricated exactly according to the detail drawings. All welding operations are completed by certified welders and checked through a 5-point quality inspection process. Finally, our field foremen ensure that the project is erected according to customer requirements and to the highest quality standards. 

Dennis Steel utilizes a complete in-house structural steel detailing department. With the use of state of the art programs including AutoCAD, Tekla, SSDCP and Soft Steel, and the employment of three full time detailers and a dedicated checker, Dennis Steel had the ability to create accurate drawings for use in the shop, and field. Having an in-house detailing department offers many benefits such as direct communication between the detailers, fabricators, and erectors which helps ensure quality and accuracy in all facets of the process. Dennis Steel is equip with a 23,150 square foot, AISC certified fabrication shop, and the equipment and personal to serve your fabrication needs. We have the capability to handle large scale projects in a timely fashion. We employ a full time quality control manager that ensures every piece of material that goes through our shop is inspected throughout the entire fabrication process, producing a final product that is of the highest quality.
