Intake Ferrous & Non-ferrous materials

In the metal trade, a distinction is made between ferrous metals and non-ferrous metals. Iron and all iron-based alloys are called ferrous metals. The other metals, such as aluminum, gold and copper, are called non-ferrous metals.

While many metals exhibit magnetic behavior, only a few are directly attracted to a magnet. This phenomenon is called ferrous magnetism (“ferrous” of iron). The best-known ferromagnetic metal is iron, but metals such as cobalt and nickel also display this property.
