About Company

DeMenno/Kerdoon, a proud member of the World Oil Family of Companies, is the largest used oil, waste water treatment and used antifreeze recycler in the Western United States. Our Part B permitted TSD facility recycles hazardous waste into high quality recycled products and treats wastewater to meet or exceed stringent Los Angeles County Sanitation District effluent standards. This makes D/K the 100% waste disposal solution! At DeMenno/Kerdoon, we believe recycling is one of the best ways to conserve our depleting natural resources. That's why all recoverable oil, from used oil and oily water waste, and all recovered ethylene glycol from received waste antifreeze materials are recycled in our state-of-the-art process systems. At D/K, all incoming waste materials and outbound recycled products are tested in our on-site State Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP) Certified lab to insure compliance with all regulatory, permit and product certification as well as product specification requirements. Setting the standard for the industry, D/K's Customer Service Department is available ‘on-call' 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist you with waste profiling for receiving and all your customer service needs. You'll find D/K's Marketing Team offers disposal rates that consistently beat our competition. DeMenno/Kerdoon combines not only the technology and service, but also sound financial resources for a cleaner environment. Considering your hazardous waste disposal options and where to recycle? Make the right choice. Choose DeMenno/Kerdoon for all your recycling needs.

Processes:

Oil phase:

Being the largest used oil re-refiner in the Western United States, DeMenno/Kerdoon operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to facilitate the proper handling and recycling of the millions of gallons of waste oil D/K receives annually. Our Oil Recycling Unit (ORU) uses state-of-the-art processes to insure our end products meet the most stringent standards and requirements for recycled oil product certification. DeMenno/Kerdoon utilizes the highest degree of technology in converting used oil into finished petroleum products.

Used Oil RecyclingOur systems and facilities for the processing of this oil include the following:

  • Atmospheric Dehydration
  • Atmospheric Distillation
  • Vacuum Distillation
  • Distillate Treating
  • Lube Distillate Treating

Other so-called "recyclers" or treatment facilities do not convert the oil phase into products but instead sell or dispose of the oil-phase at other facilities for further processing or disposal. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL OF CAUSING YOU LIABILITY.

Since other treatment facilities do not process their oil phase there is a potential of oil being disposed of illegally. Under the California Used Oil Management Standards, if the finished petroleum products do not meet certain product specifications then the sale of the oil would be illegal.

A MAJOR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DeMENNO/KERDOON AND OTHER PROCESSING FACILITIES IS THAT DeMENNO/KERDOON IS THE ONLY FACILITY THAT CAN ELIMINATE YOUR LIABILITY FOR BOTH THE OIL PHASE AND THE WATER PHASE.

Water Phase

Just as important as the Oil phase is the Water phase. DeMenno/Kerdoon's technology brings the water phase to below 75 parts per million of oil and grease. The systems included in the water-treating phase include the following:

  • Oil, Water and Solids Separation
  • pH Neutralization
  • Chemical Floculation and Demulsification
  • Dissolved Air Flotation
  • Volatile Organic Removal
  • Granulated Activated Carbon Adsorption

The result of using DeMenno/Kerdoon's systems is that there is never a contingent liability because our facility has met all regulatory requirements regarding the water-phase. The agency responsible for monitoring this phase is the Los Angeles County Sanitation District with which DeMenno/Kerdoon is fully permitted.

 Antifreeze/Glycol Recycling

DeMenno/Kerdoon recycles waste antifreeze/glycol into antifreeze and ethylene glycol. This recycled product meets the more stringent specifications required of antifreeze grade ethylene glycol as well as ASTM antifreeze specifications. This state of the art recycling system includes the following

  • Physical/pre-treatment
  • Chemical Treatment
  • Atmospheric Distillation
  • Vacuum Distillation
  • Carbon Adsorption

RCRA Fuels:

DeMenno/Kerdoon’s RCRA Fuels Unit (RFU) receives and stores waste RCRA Fuels prior to shipment to offsite, permitted recyclers or incinerators. Typical examples of waste RCRA Fuels are: solvents, paint related materials, contaminated used oils, and other materials unsuitable for recycling at the D/K facility.
