Downfast Demolition was originally established to undertake projects in East Kent with high volumes of architectural salvage (e.g. Bricks, Tiles etc) which we cleaned, processed and resold back into the local market place. As time progressed, so did our reputation as an honest and fair family-run business, which spurred our growth in the construction industry and began our evolution into DDS Demolition, now a national demolition contractor.

Current times

40 years later, as a national demolition contractor, DDS has grown significantly and undertakes projects across a wide range of sectors for an even broader range of clients, applying the experience gained from the demolition of structures such as condemned Multi-Storey Car Parks and Paper Mills to redundant Power Stations.

Even in the company’s infancy, DDS always employed an ethos of personal professionalism and best value irrespective of project size, complexity or timescales. We have upheld this mindset throughout our growth to become a national demolition contractor and firmly believe that this mentality was the catalyst to our success, separating us from our competitors in highly contested markets.

We take a strategic approach to each project on its individual merits and requirements. We have grown and nurtured a trusted, experienced Contracts Team and take great care and consideration to appoint the right team with the right experience to each project. The experience and capabilities of our Contracts Managers, Site Supervisors and Site Operatives is always project specific to ensure that we have the best team in place.

DDS has an established workforce of over 90 employees and continues to be led by the second generation of the Ray family, Wesley Ray. Managing Director for the past five years, Wesley brought not only the knowledge and values of the first generation but also introduced up to date, innovative practices – particularly necessary in the ever evolving demolition industry.

First and foremost came the decision to strengthen the company with a sturdy backbone of Health & Safety forward thinking practices. Our exemplary Health and Safety record is driven by our in house SHEQ Manager, encompassing stringent regulations of safe working from yard to site. DDS own a vast fleet of plant and machinery and take great care of our investments by operating a safe, clean and tidy site on every site.
