Modena Earthworks, a division of Dawes, provides a variety of excavation and cemetery services in the Hudson Valley.

Back in 1952 Henry F. Dawes (aka “Poppy Chicken”) ventured into Hudson Valley Sanitation. HVS, located on East Road on the border of Plattekill and Marlboro in the little “town” of “Dawesville”, was one of the few companies with a “vacuum truck”, . After many changes in the business and more family members getting involved, Henry changed the company name to “B&G Dawes Inc.” (Bambi & Gregory) in the 70s.

In 1982, Henry's son Chris Dawes (aka “Dawzie”) joined the business. In 1986, Henry retired and Chris became the new owner with a Dawes Septic Service. In 1995, Chris started Modena Earthworks and Supply to handle repair work and supply delivery.

In 2008, Dawes Septic and Repair along with Modena Earthworks were proudly handed down to third-generation Carl, Chris' son, and Carl's wife Becky. Along with their team, they provide specialty services in all phases of wastewater disposal system design, installation, maintenance, and repairs. Additionally, excavation services are offered with a wide variety of expertise.

Community support is dear to their hearts. Rotarians since 1991, they are committed to providing for their community as a way to give back for all the support that has been shown to over our 70years in business. Local organizations, veteran services, schools, food pantries, shelters, and many others see this impact.
