We are a family owned and operated business, specialising in waste management, waste recycling, skip hire, quarry operations, ready mix concrete and scrap metal recycling, based in Aviemore.

In 1958 Carr-Bridge man David Ritchie took the plunge and advertised that he and his lorry were available to hire for Road Haulage Transportation. Since then the business has moved with the times and expanded into; Quarrying, Waste Management & Recycling, Skip, Tipper & Wheelie Bin Hire, Scrap Metal Recycling, Ready-Mix Concrete Supplies, E.L.V Dismantling & Disposal, Inert Material Tip & Recycling, Confidential Waste Shredding and Bio-Mass Timber Recycling Supplies.

At it’s heart, the business which is now known as “David Ritchie & Sons Ltd” is still family owned and operated with David and his sons Robert and Brian serving as Directors.

Robert’s wife Carol is the Transport Manager, whilst Brian’s wife Margaret is the Accounts and Office Manager. Both Robert and Brian’s sons, David and Daniel respectively are employed by the Company, David being the Companies Business Development Manager and Daniel as E.L.V Recycling and Plant Supervisor, Brian’s daughter Gemma is also employed as Weighbridge Clerk and Administration Assistant. In addition to the direct family members, the Company employs a further 20 employees through the Waste Recycling, Quarrying, Scrap Metal and Ready-Mix Concrete aspects of the business.

In 2001, realising the ever increasing problems with regard to Waste Management, the Company decided to construct a purpose built Waste Recycling Centre. Major investment was put in place to build; waste sorting and segregation facilities, waste picking stations, screening, shredding and baling plants as well as loading and storage areas. Although it was a very costly investment, the Directors feel they have built a facility which provides a safe, cost effective and environmentally friendly solution to the waste disposal problems of every day life.

Operating in excess of 500 skips, Roll on/off containers and wheelie bins throughout the Highlands, we strive to continue the growth within the recycling sector, but also remain focused on all of the other aspects of the business.
