D.A.D. Manufacturing was incorporated in 1980 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with the goal of providing the highest quality fabricated sheet metal products to local industries. To accommodate the company's early rapid growth, D.A.D. moved its operations into a new facility in Hiawatha, Iowa in 1984. Two years later the site was expanded. Following this growth, the operations further expanded to a second facility in Lisbon, Iowa.

In 1990, Tom Pennaluna bought controlling interest in the company. He hired his nephew, Dave Dohrmann, to be the general manager in 2007. Dave later became the president and in 2014, he and his wife, Lori, bought controlling interest in the company. Both Dave and Lori continue to have a very strong presence in the business. D.A.D. Manufacturing is now known to be one of the best steel fabrication and metal polishing companies in Iowa.
