Cool Planet is a technology company that is developing fuels, chemicals, and biocarbon products to address three of the world’s largest markets: energy, food and water. Currently we are commercializing a technology to create gasoline, jet, diesel, and renewable chemical hydrocarbons, as well as our CoolTerra™ biocarbon product that reduces water use in drought areas such as California, and increases crop yields.
Our renewable fuels and chemicals are identical to the ones produced from fossil fuels. They can be blended into the current fuel supply, taking greenhouse gases out of the air, without sacrificing performance or increasing prices at the pump.
Our CoolTerra™ biocarbon product sequesters carbon and creates value for industries as diverse as agriculture, water, and livestock.
Relative to other fuel production processes, our technology allows us to build smaller, significantly less expensive facilities closer to biomass feedstock, so we can expand rapidly, achieve lower scale-up risk and continuously innovate and improve with each new facility.
Our strategic investors include BP, Google Ventures, Energy Technology Ventures (GE, ConocoPhillips, NRG Energy), and the Constellation division of Exelon.
Cool Planet is poised to revolutionize the energy, food, and water markets with its clean energy solution. Our technology, which has the capability to be carbon negative, harnesses an innovative thermo-mechanical process and proprietary catalysts to turn biomass into green fuels and biochar.
The process allows us to create green gasoline from non-food sources that capture carbon from the air, and a biocarbon product that sequesters the carbon left over – unlocking the capability for a carbon negative lifecycle.
The technology combines a mechanical front-end that processes the biomass with heat and pressure into gases, with proprietary catalysts that convert those gases directly into Cool Planet’s green fuels, leaving a valuable biochar behind which sequesters carbon and delivers transformative benefits to industries as diverse as agriculture, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
We are demonstrating fuel production at our pilot facilities in Camarillo, CA and commercially producing CoolTerra™ biocarbon for the agriculture industry. We will break ground in February 2014 on our first commercial-scale facility in Alexandria, Louisiana.
We are also commercializing our technology internationally where we have signed several strategic partnerships to bring our green fuels and biochar to Southeast Asia and beyond.
