DESCRIPTION

Computer Recycling Services is a SEPA Approved Authorised Treatment Facility (AATF) for the disposal of Electrical & Electronic Equipment.

SEPA insist that recycling facilities which intend to treat WEEE (Waste Electronic & Electrical Equipment) have under-gone a thorough site inspection and interview process before certification is awarded with an Approved Authorised Treatment Facility (AATF) Licence. This is to ensure WEEE is treated legally and to the standards set throughout the industry.

We provide WEEE compliant solutions to many industry sectors such as Local Government, Police, Fire & Rescue, Universities, NHS, Legal Profession, Accountants, Science & Technology, ICT, and Defence.

More information regarding our services and certification can be found within this website or alternatively:

A WEEE History:

EU Directive 2002/96/EC better known as the WEEE (Waste Electronic & Electrical Equipment) Legislation, became European Law on The 13th February 2003, and fully implemented within the UK in July 2007. WEEE is the fastest growing waste stream in the UK. Each year in the UK throw away over 1.2 million tonnes of electrical and electronic waste. The equivalent of 150 thousand double decker buses!

Previously over 75% of waste electrical goods end up in landfill, where toxins found within the electrical goods can cause soil and water contamination, which has severe consequences for wildlife, human beings, and the environment.

The European WEEE (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment) Directive has 3 main objectives, they are:

The prevention of waste from electronic and electrical equipment.

The re-use, recycling and other forms of recovery of such wastes.

Minimising the risks and impact to the environment associated with the treatment and disposal of end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment.

Refurbished IT:

Equipment that has the potential to be reused is identified and passed to our engineers who will carry out an electrical safety test, as well as functional tests using well-known and approved diagnostic software.

All hard drives will be erased using software (certified to department of defence standards), which will permanently erase the drive of all previous user information.

This Software is currently used by: U.S. Dept. of Defence, U.S. Army and Navy, Dept. of Homeland Security, Time Warner, Lockheed Martin, HP / Compaq, Conoco, Prudential Financial, IBM, Procter & Gamble.

Once all tests are complete equipment is then packaged and resold.

Secure Data Destruction:

Consider the information stored on a hard drive, floppy disk, cd, backup tapes, or videotapes. Information such as:

Financial,E-mail,Sales,Contact Information,Product Development Plans,Marketing Plans,Trade Secrets,Personal information,Passwords
