In business since 1959, Colucci’s Jewelers has become Charleston’s home for the largest selection of diamonds, engagement rings and fine jewelry. Founder Ivo Colucci was born in Italy in 1939 and landed in New York at the age of 18 with nothing but empty pockets and high hopes. His hard work in a factory paid off when a co-worker of his referred him to her husband, a jeweler at the time. The moment Ivo arrived for his interview, he knew he’d be a jeweler for life. After a few years of working as a jewelry polisher he saw that there was a little more money to be made as a diamond setter and learned the craft. After many long days and nights spent working for someone else and saving everything he could, Ivo Colucci finally had enough to open his own manufacturing and repair shop. “Colucci’s Jewelry Factory” opened on Canal Street in New York, right in the heart of the industry.
Colucci’s handled repairs for not only the majority of Jewelry stores in Manhattan but many in New Jersey as well. After many great years and many tough winters, Ivo and his family said goodbye to the big apple and headed south to Charleston, SC. Colucci’s Jewelry Factory opened its doors in 1975 and has been proudly serving the great people of the low country ever since. The Jewelry store is now run by third generation master jeweler Vincent Colucci. Trained at the bench by his grandfather Ivo, Vincent strives to continue delivering the high quality repairs and custom craftsmanship that Coluccis’ customers have come to expect over the years.
Vincent now nurtures the long term relationships and connections developed by his grandfather with the largest diamond supplier in the world. He also brings a modern twist to the old family tradition of jewelry manufacturing by using cad drawing and “CNC” milling. Because of this, Colucci’s can now offer you the option of seeing your custom jewelry pieces brought to life on the monitor or in wax before it is crafted and the stones set! The entire Colucci family is still here working together on Rivers Ave. When you come in, you’re likely to see Ivo, his wife Doris, Vincent and his wife Jenny.
