Since August 2008, we have been a full service coin shop and a place to convert unwanted gold and silver jewelry, sterling flatware, pocket watches, coins, currency, and other collectibles to cash. We take pride in that we are not a pawn shop and treat our customers fairly, discreetly, and professionally. Since we've been open, we've had many clients from all professions visit us. Those people have recommended their friends and family to come to us when they need to sell something. One of the owners, Don, travels from Rhode Island and is very knowledgeable on coins and currency. When not at the shop, he is busy writing computer software for town clerks in Rhode Island. Why did we pick Portland to open a store? Opening a store in Rhode Island was not an option, since their precious metal laws requires the dealer to hold the item(s) for 14 days. Because the market can change drastically in that period, it forces the dealer to pay very low to the customer. We didn't want to be a part of that. We looked for an area in CT that had a lot of people and didn't have competition. After research, Middletown/Portland area turned out to be a good area. And as it turns out, Portland and the surrounding towns are an excellent area and the people are wonderful. We get a lot of people from East Hampton, Cromwell, Durham, and Glastonbury.
