CMG - 42 years of research, quality and innovation
Since 1979 quality, innovation and a particular attention to the specific needs of the customer have always been the guidelines of CMG, which today has one of the widest and most qualified product ranges covering all sectors of the transformation of plastic materials.
With over 30,000 units installed at customers in Europe, America, the Middle East and Asia, CMG is today one of the leading companies in the world.
CMG has always faced the world panorama with efficient and competitive solutions and many manufacturers of machinery for the transformation of plastic materials have relied on CMG for size reduction.
THE COMPANY TODAY
Today CMG operates in six Application Sectors in the plastics industry:
Thermoforming - continuous and single station applications
Extrusion - sheet, film, tube, profiles
Blow molding - packaging, tanks, fittings
Injection molding - bumpers, dashboards, lights, manifolds, PET preforms, PVC fittings, electrical material, boxes, bins
Recycling - in-house and post-consumer with the exclusive design of the Disposable blades
Cables - plastic and copper grinding and recovery systems
With headquarters, plants and technology center in Italy and the largest worldwide distribution network in the plastics industry, CMG is active all over the world with service and sales centers and localized skills.
Quality and innovation from birth.
Forty years of growth are an important milestone, but also a starting point that CMG faces on the strength of a range of products that ranges from small injection granulators, to the most advanced ATEX solutions for the Automotive industry, from the wide range of granulators and dust separators for PET applications in packaging (blown bottles and thermoforming) to large granulators and shredders for post-consumer recovery of plastic materials.
The sturdiness, reliability and innovation of CMG products are proven by the more than thirty-year loyalty of electric cable recoverers who, for their activity, have always preferred both granulators and single-shaft shredders.
The introduction of electronics and information technology in daily life and the advent of Industry 4.0 make CMG one of the forerunners in the development of advanced solutions for energy saving, operational efficiency and integration into the production chain. . All the units produced by CMG today are configured as Cyber Physical Systems and meet the technological requirements necessary to meet the dictates of the circular economy.
OUR HISTORY SINCE 1979
The story of CMG is this: the story of a company made up of people and people who do business every day.
In 1979 Vittorio Martelli gives life to CMG and begins with a still active relationship with Negri Bossi of Cologno Monzese, specialized in injection presses for the molding of plastic parts, which entrusts CMG to produce components for injection heads. Since 1981, Negri Bossi has commissioned CMG to study and build granulators capable of grinding the plastic of the sprues and defective pieces created during the manufacturing process, to recover the ground material and mix it with the virgin one.
In 1983, the CEO of Cumberland, visiting Budrio, discovers that CMG makes granulators for Negri Bossi. Convinced of the design and construction quality, he commissioned CMG to also manufacture Cumberland brand granulators, allowing CMG to increase its know-how and to gain experience that will then be the basis of future evolution.
Culture and continuous development of the product, cult of quality, seriousness and concreteness are the values that allow CMG to establish a fiduciary relationship with Cumberland that will last 16 years.

It was 2009 when CMG, after having studied in particular German products, initially created for wood and adapted to all other materials, decided to focus everything on specific shredders for plastic designed not so much to crush objects, but to reduce them in size. cutting them. In this way CMG is able to obtain an increase in the homogeneity of the shredded material and a decisive reduction in dust.
Consequently, the transport, management and reuse of plastic “waste”, converted into a resource, become easier and cheaper.
Of course, to optimize the technical results you need great cutting precision: in fact a real trademark of CMG, its “brand truth”.
Thinking about the reuse of plastic, then, could seem an abstract and almost eccentric concept. Today, ten years later, reuse is the basis of that circular economy that is emerging as a civil and social emergency, demonstrating the great entrepreneurial vision of the company that today produces granulators and shredders dedicated to the recycling of large plastic. capacity - up to 6,000 kg / h - with unique precision features for this type of machine.
The precision and cutting quality typical of CMG machines have favored the recent entry into another very specialized market sector: that of the recovery of electric cables. In this case it is necessary to recover not only the plastic of the sheath, but also the copper - or in the larger cables the aluminum - of the conductor. It is a very high-precision operation, because the cutting and recovery of the copper separated from the plastic must take place together, producing very small pieces. Obviously, since metal has to be cut, the machine must be not only precise, but also very robust and flexible.
