The City of Clyde, as provided in the City Charter, is a Council-Manager Government. The Manager's duty is to execute the laws and administer the government of the municipality. The Manager is the Chief Executive Officer of the City and is responsible to Council for the proper administration of the Municipal Government.
City Manager's Update to Council November 15th, 2016
The Ohio Department of Commerce has finally approved the electrical service at the Clyde Light and Power Cold Storage Building. We ran into some "difficulties" with the State Inspector on this job but those issues were resolved with some additional plan submissions. CL&P will definitely be occupying the building before winter arrives.
This morning, I attended the Ohio Public Works District 5 Executive Committee Meeting in Perrysburg. After some lengthy discussions on our application in particular, the committee approved the rankings as submitted. The Hamer Street Project is well above the funding line established for the State Capital Improvement Projects. This grant will be for $325,000.
While on the topic of grants, last week we received another grant from the Stephenson Foundation. This grant was in the amount of $10,000 and will be used for Phase II of the walking path at Hurd Park.
The Midvale/Elmdale Storm Sewer, Phase II sat idle for a few days while we waited for the catch basins to be delivered, but construction started back up today. The General Service Department, with the assistance of lifting from the CL&P Digger Truck, should easily wrap this project up before frost becomes an issue.
In other General Service news, the Leaf Machine has been down for a short time due to a hydraulic leak. They are hoping it returns tomorrow from repairs.
We have submitted the 10-day Demolition Notice to the Ohio EPA for the removal of the old Parks Department Administration Building. As we discussed during Budget Hearings, this will allow for additional parking at the South Street Lot and potentially even a reconfiguration of the very tight parking spots in that lot.
We have also scheduled leveling at the old Paint Factory Site prior to Winter. Following demolition and removal of the building, we have slowly been hauling in clean fill to allow us to properly grade the area and return it to "green space".
Our Annual Winesburg Christmas kicks off this Friday, November 18th. I believe the Vice-Mayor will be lighting the Christmas Tree this year at 6pm. The Parade rolls at 6:30 and then the Fireworks by Pyrotecnico will follow. Please join us downtown Friday evening for some great "small town" holiday fun.
