Clampco's History

Business Development

Clampco Products, Inc., Wadsworth, Ohio, was founded on June 24, 1971, by James and Linda Venner. Since its inception, Clampco has provided high quality products at competitive prices in a family-owned business setting. Customer service, both in terms of personal attention to product development and quick response to customers' needs, has always been a high priority. By adhering to these basic customer-oriented principles, Clampco has grown steadily throughout the years.

Company Growth

During the early 70s, Clampco was supplying a number of OEM and aftermarket industries in the construction and trucking markets. By 1977, Clampco had outgrown its original facility and moved to a larger building. Three more expansions occurred at this site.

In the early 80s, Clampco entered other industrial markets. It also began supplying the U.S. government. This growth trend enlarged the company's production capabilities and enhanced its expertise in a broad range of clamping applications.

In 1981, Clampco jumped into the computer age and automated all sales, purchasing, inventory, and administrative operations. At that time, the company's twenty employees worked to keep pace with the rapidly expanding product line.

In 1986, Clampco purchased a competitor, Specialty Products Co. of Wickliffe, Ohio. This acquisition, along with internal changes in the sales department, spurred remarkable growth and industry recognition over the next few years.

In 2006, Clampco purchased the tooling and manufacturing assets of Global Manufacturing, a Canadian-based worm gear clamp manufacturer. Clampco now produces two lines of worm gear clamps, a standard series with a 1/2” wide band and a micro series with a 5/16” wide band. These two series address the major requirements of commercial and industrial worm gear clamp applications. As a result, this latest acquisition further supports Clampco’s goal of providing customers with the broadest, highest-quality product line in the clamp industry.
