CITIC Pacific Mining is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong listed company CITIC Limited. Headquartered in Perth, the company was established to manage the construction and operation of the Sino Iron project, an integrated mining, processing and port operation that will secure a long term stable source of quality materials for the Chinese special steel mills owned and operated by the group.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

• Sino Iron is mining on a massive scale and we use the biggest mining equipment in the world. In time the size of the mine will be larger than Kalgoorlie’s Super Pit.
• Sino Iron is the largest magnetite mining and processing operation in Australia.  The concentrator houses six processing lines with designed annual capacity of 24 million tonnes of high grade magnetite concentrate.
• We've built the first port in the Pilbara for 40 years to ship our magnetite concentrate from Cape Preston to China.
• Our state of the art combined cycle gas fired power station with design capacity of 480 megawatt is the first to be built in the Pilbara and produces 40 per cent less emissions than an equivalent size open cycle plant. This massively reduces the projects carbon footprint.
• Our desalination plant is as big as the plant in Perth with the capacity to produce 140,000 megalitres of water per day, that’s about 50 Olympic sized swimming pools!
