What is medical waste?

The definition of medical waste is specified in the Waste Act of December 4, 2012 and subsequent ordinances of the Minister of Health.

According to them, medical waste is generated during procedures or medical services. Medical waste includes: pharmaceutical reagents, used packaging and syringes as well as human and animal tissues.

All such residues must be placed in special containers, the construction of which prevents accidental spillage of the contents.
