CFEC is a not-for-profit organization that prides itself on being member driven. Our mission is to be the finest example of an electric cooperative where excellent service, competitive rates and concern for the consumer, community and environment guide our every action.
Since 1939, Central Florida Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CFEC) has been proudly serving the Tri-County area. First introduced as Rural Electric Cooperative (REA), CFEC has been providing electrical services to less populated areas, which would not have had affordable and reliable electric utilities otherwise.

At the start of 2015, CFEC had over 32,700 active services in six counties in north central Florida. CFEC currently serves: Dixie, Gilchrist, Levy, and portions of Alachua, Lafayette
and Marion Counties.

CFEC is also an active participant in various community events. Each year, CFEC raises funds for organizations such as the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life and Hospice, and supports programs that directly benefit the people of the communities we serve.
Either a corporation or any person over the age of 18 may apply for Residential Electric Service from Central Florida Electric Cooperative, Inc., (CFEC) as required by the Cooperative's Bylaws. CFEC requires a membership fee, a refundable security deposit, a processing fee, and a trip charge to obtain service. The security deposit is designed to access the credit risk of our membership. Any person or entity owing a debt to the Cooperative shall not be rendered service until the debt has been paid in full.
Requirements for service include: a signed membership application and a valid Government ID. Proof of ownership will be required if you own the property. If you are renting or leasing the property, a lease agreement will be required. In the event you do not have a lease agreement, an Owner's Authorization Form is provided by CFEC - this must be completed by the owner of the property. We need the meter number of the location for which you desire service, and, if available, the physical address. The meter number is located inside the clear meter cover on a silver tab. ***Do not attempt to open the meter***
