History

In 1972, Jimmy G. Carroll purchased Centerless Grinding Service, a small family owned business located in downtown Atlanta, Ga. The company had five employees, three centerless grinders and various other support equipment.

In 1976 the company moved to Stone Mountain, GA and added more grinders and a bar straightener. The business was growing. In 1980, Jimmy’s son Mike Carroll joined the business full time after graduating college.

In 1983, the company needed more capacity, so it was moved to its current location in Tucker, GA, where it has expanded operations to approximately 30,000 square feet, adding more grinders and bar straighteners.

In 1988, Jimmy’s other son, Russell Carroll, also joined the business full time after graduating college.

In 1995 sons Mike and Russell Carroll purchased CGS from their father, Jimmy Carroll, who retired that same year. CGS remains a family owned and operated business whose family members and employees are dedicated to providing quality and value in meeting or exceeding the needs of their customers.

Mike Carroll, President, and Russell Carroll, Vice President, also have sons that have joined the business in recent years and plan to continue to provide outstanding service to their valued customers for years to come.
