The history of Celtor, acronym for Garbage Elimination and Treatment Center, began in 1977 at the initiative of several municipalities. In forty years, the maisonette with windows edged with geranium has transformed into a high-performance business, serving the population in its area of activity, while intensifying its values of proximity and availability which have made its reputation today.
From the simple idea of outsourcing waste management to an external organization, Celtor's mandate has evolved into a public interest limited company specializing in the collection, treatment, recovery and storage of waste. Today, Celtor is a public limited company which brings together twenty-five municipalities in the Bernese Jura and two municipalities in the Jura. It operates an area of 80,000 m2 and employs 17 people to process an ever-increasing volume of waste

In response to a request from the Department of Hydraulic and Energy Economy in Bern, ADOR (Association for the Planning and Defense of the Orval) is studying the creation of a controlled landfill for the municipalities located within a radius of 20 kilometers around Tavannes, with the exception of the municipalities of Vallon de Saint-Imier. The Ronde-Sagne site, which is located on plots in the communes of Tavannes and Reconvilier, quickly proved to be the most favorable location.
On a first survey list, there are 32 interested municipalities.
