In 1966, Levi and Mabel Grainger moved to Savannah, GA from Tabor City, NC, where Levi owned the Ford dealership. Levi’s plan was to purchase a motel in Savannah, but after speaking with a friend, he decided to buy Simply Simon Auto Parts. Shortly after this purchase, Levi’s sons, Ken and Bill, moved to Savannah from Miami, FL and Wilmington, NC, respectively. At this time, the name was changed to Grainger Auto Parts. After Levi passed away in 1971, Ken and Bill took over the business. In 1985, the Grainger brothers purchased Cash-N-Carry from Savannah attorney, John Wright Jones. At the time of purchase, Cash-N-Carry changed from a full service auto parts to a self service auto parts. Kenny Grainger joined the family business in 1993, where he worked at Grainger Auto Parts and Cash-N-Carry at different times until 2000, when Grainger Auto Parts was bought by LKQ. After the purchase of Grainger Auto Parts, Kenny Grainger stayed with LKQ for five years as the plant manager and Ken Grainger took over sole ownership of Cash-N-Carry. Kenny joined his father at Cash-N-Carry in 2005, where he took over all the day to day operations and was named President of Cash-N-Carry in 2008. In May of 2008, Ansley Grainger joined the family business overseeing the office management.
