Casalasca Servizi Spa - The History

In 1992 the Municipal Administration of San Giovanni in Croce, on the basis of meetings with the neighboring Administrations, prepared a project for the creation of an inter-municipal Service Platform to meet the needs of its own and of other Casalaschi Municipalities to better organize the collections differentiated waste and to have a storage center for their vehicles.

In 1994 exactly on May 16, 17 municipal administrations established the company Casalasca Servizi Igiene Urbana ed Ambientale SpA, with headquarters in Casalmaggiore. which was entrusted with the completion of the Urban Garbage Services in general such as the collection and transport of both solid urban waste and those deriving from separate waste collection.

The Casalasca Urban and Environmental Hygiene Services Company became operational on January 1, 1996 . Subsequently, the enlargement of the Company base brought the situation to 23 Municipal Shareholder Administrations as well as 2 other former Municipalized Companies (TEA SpA and AEM Cremona SpA).

On 31.12.2000 the Company, with the increase of the Share Capital to 500,000 Euros, changed its company name to Casalasca Servizi SpA The company had to expand the area envisaged by the Municipal Project, as the quantity of waste collected, the size the same reached by the Company in relation to the number of Members and the number of inhabitants served required adequate spaces and integrative technological structures. Therefore, the construction of the shed and weighbridge envisaged in the first project was integrated with an area equipped for the temporary storage of differentiated municipal solid waste and special waste, sheds for the temporary storage of hazardous urban waste and adequate spaces for the volumetric reduction and packaging of the various collected fractions.

Since September 2006, a conveyor belt has been in operation at the platform, integrated by a press, for the selection and mechanized pressing of special waste similar to urban waste, coming from commercial, artisanal and industrial activities, and of some types of urban waste coming from ecological pitches, to obtain material to be sent for recovery; the plant is mainly used for cleaning and packing plastic deriving from separate waste collection and municipal pitches.

In 2008 , another 22 local authorities in the Cremona area joined as shareholders, therefore the shareholding structure of Casalasca Servizi SpA is currently composed, in addition to Mantova Ambiente srl (formerly TEA SpA) and AEM Gestioni Srl (formerly AEM Cremona SpA), of 44 Municipal Administrations.
