Canerector is a private, family-owned, multi-divisional company based in Toronto, Ontario. Our mandate is to buy and hold businesses focused in metal fabrication and industrial manufacturing.
OUR HISTORY
1947 Canadian Erectors Limited founded by 3 partners in 1947 and began as a small boiler field repair business in Montreal, Canada, then eventually expanded to include engineering and fabrication of structural steel and field erected storage tanks.
1978 Canadian Erectors became a family business when Stan Hawkins, one of the original shareholders, and his son Cecil, purchased the partners’ shares.
1982 Stan Hawkins, the original founder, stepped down as President after 22 years and passed the reins on to his son, Cecil.
1983 Canerector made its first major acquisition, a national platework company with three divisions which set the company on the path to becoming the multidivisional company it is today.
1986 After relocating its offices to Toronto, Canerector continued to develop the operating principles which make it successful today.
2001 After two decades under Cecil’s leadership, Canerector’s steady growth brought the group to nearly 20 businesses and became completely debt-free.
2009 Maintaining a strong balance sheet amidst the recession, Canerector commits to growth by acquisition in the coming years.
2012 Canerector’s group of independent companies doubles in number over the preceding decade. All of these businesses were acquired without borrowing. Canerector continues to actively seek good businesses to join its growing family.
