About Company

Back in the days

In 1899 “Antwerp Chemical Works” established itself in Beerse. In 1912 the site became home to “Compagnie Métallurgique de la Campine” which specialized in resource recovery with a focus on copper, bronze, silver, zinc, lead and antimony. After WWI, the factory on the east bank of the canal (now Metallo) was sold to finance the rebuilding of the western factory (now Campine). From 1924, the new factory grew into an important processor of lead and antimony metal.

Campine shares were introduced on the stock exchange in 1936. The “CAMB” stock exchange code has sounded familiar to investors for nearly a century !

In the 1960's Campine shifted its focus from antimony oxide for glass applications to antimony trioxides for flame retardant applications. The product range has been further developed over the years. From 1987, ready-to-use mixtures and polymer-bound masterbatch solutions were also added to the range. In 1992, a specialized department was opened for the recycling of lead waste and lead-containing car batteries.

Now

Campine has grown into an internationally respected partner for sustainable raw material recovery and one of the largest antimony trioxide producers in the world. Our specific expertise in both domains and the conscious choice for circular economy appeal to customers at home and abroad. We have been exporting our products and knowledge all over the world for many decades!

On the one hand, we are a listed company, but on the other hand we will also remain a modest Kempen SME with a flat organizational structure. We can currently count on the enthusiastic commitment of around 200 employees. Due to the growing interest in sustainable raw materials recovery and the increasing demand for our products, the number of vacancies and employees is steadily increasing. In this way we also contribute to the economic development of our region.

The future

Sustainable waste processing and circular economy are becoming increasingly important. At Campine, we are already responding to the trends of tomorrow by continuously investing in innovative and ecologically responsible recovery processes. We put the positive impact on people and the environment first and offer our customers more and more tailor-made material solutions.
