Calhoun's Jewelers opened in Topeka, Kansas in August of 2004 by owners Doug and Curt Calhoun. In 2009, Calhoun's Jewelers moved from its original location in White Lakes Mall to Fleming Place Shopping Center, where it thrived.  Calhoun's soon outgrew the shopping center and relocated to their own freestanding building at 18th and Gage in 2016.

Doug Calhoun started in the jewelry business in 1978 at Wolf’s Jewelers in White Lakes Mall where he worked his way up from Sales Associate to Store Manager.  Doug left Wolf’s Jewelers in 1985 to become a full time student at Gem City College of Horology.  There he was taught jewelry design and fabrication.  After graduating, Doug began working as a subcontracted jeweler.  In 1987, Doug’s brother Curt Calhoun joined him in subcontracting jewelry repair and creation for a majority of the retail jewelry stores in Topeka and many in the Kansas City area.  17 years later, they opened their own jewelry store - Calhoun’s Jewelers.

Curt’s sons CJ and Alex have also joined the family business as jewelers.  CJ Calhoun earned his certification from Jewelers of America in 2012, becoming the first and only Certified Bench Jeweler in Topeka.

Free Jewelry Cleaning
    Stop by anytime to have your jewelry professionally cleaned. We will polish, ultrasonic and steam clean your jewelry, so it will sparkle and shine just like new again.

Free Jewelry Inspection
    We will inspect your items to make sure your gemstones are secure, prongs are not too worn, and jewelry is in overall good condition.  We recommend having your jewelry inspected every six months so you can discover any small problems early, before they become more costly repairs.

Repair
    All jewelry repair is done on site at Calhoun's Jewelers by our team of experienced jewelers.  They are equipped with the most advanced technology, enabling them to achieve the highest quality of jewelry repair.

Custom Design
    Whether you want to redesign an old piece of jewelry, set your stones into a new design, or start completely fresh, our jewelers can create anything you desire. 

Appraisals
    We provide insurance appraisals at no charge for new purchases upon request. Our appraisal services are also available for any fine jewelry that you already own.  Oftentimes we can take notes on your pieces while you wait, so you do not have to leave them. Your appraisal will be finished soon after.  You can be assured that Calhoun's Jewelers will provide you with an accurate appraisal that will keep your fine jewelry protected.

Pearl Restringing
    Pearls are strung onto a silk strand and usually knotted between each pearl.  Not only do the knots prevent the pearls from rolling everywhere if the strand broke, but they also keep the pearls from wearing against each other.  Over time the silk strand can stretch, dull and weaken.  If you see that your knots have darkened, frayed or are no longer tightly spaced.  It is time to re-string your pearls.

Engraving
    Bring in your jewelry, keepsakes, or any other metal item you would like personalized.  We can engrave a message, date, or initials onto most metal surfaces.
