Neighbor Utrecht stands for local reuse, in the Werkspoorkwartier, but also in the rest of the city and province. Instead of landfilling, incinerating or low-grade recycling of residual materials, we give materials a new life through our construction market and workshop.

Buurman Utrecht is a building trade for circular building materials and a public workshop for used building materials and aims to give waste a second life. The current method of waste processing is no longer in line with the sustainable objectives of the world of tomorrow, in which current themes such as raw materials scarcity, circular economy and reduction of CO2 emissions play an important role. Neighbor Utrecht stands for local reuse, in the Werkspoorkwartier, but also in the rest of the city of Utrecht and the province. Instead of dumping, incinerating or low-grade recycling of residual materials, we give materials a new life through our construction market and workshop.

In July 2019 we opened our doors at Het Hof van Cartesius. Buurman Utrecht is a construction market for professionals and consumers, but at the same time also a waste processor for construction companies, museums / art institutions, festivals and other organizations. Residual material that is still usable can be purchased on the shelves of Buurman's construction market. From scrap wood to electrical cable, something for every creative or handy do-it-yourselfer. In short, competitively priced second-hand equipment with a story.

In addition to building materials, Buurman Utrecht also has a public workshop where the materials can be processed immediately. This can be rented per day or part of the day. By private individuals who do not have room to do DIY at home, for example. But also by companies as a location for a team building day, company outing or master class. Neighbor Utrecht also regularly organizes workshops and (evening) courses. Under the heading "Build it yourself with Buurman" we offer people the opportunity to learn how to build things yourself. Whether it is a doghouse or garden house, we are happy to help you in all steps of the design and construction process.
