Busch’s headquarters is located in Maulburg, Germany. Besides Busch Holding, the German manufacturing plant, Busch Produktions GmbH, the sales organization, Dr.-Ing. K. Busch GmbH and service company, Busch Dienste GmbH are headquartered here. In addition, Busch operates production plants in Switzerland, Denmark and the USA.
Dr.-Ing. Karl Busch and his wife Ayhan Busch founded the Dr.-Ing. K. Busch GmbH company in Schopfheim, Germany in 1963. Dr.-Ing. Karl Busch designed, built, tested and sold the company’s first vacuum pump in the basement of his house in record time.
A "Huckepack" type pump, it was the first vacuum pump in the world designed for the specific requirements of what was up to then an unheard of means of food packaging: vacuum packing. Huckepack was the prime initiator of the era of vacuum packing.
Today, all reputable manufacturers of vacuum packaging equipment place their confidence in Busch vacuum pumps. Since the Huckepack serial number 1 from 1963, hundreds of thousands of pumps have been commissioned in vacuum packaging.
From the beginning, a customer-oriented approach has always been central to our thinking. Rapid company development meant that we were constantly on the move, moving to larger rented production facilities until we built our first plant building in Maulburg in 1972.
A sense for practical technical development, early recognition of market trends and highly qualified personnel create the necessary environment for pioneering breakthroughs in vacuum technology. Following in the innovative footsteps of the Huckepack, the R 5 rotary vane vacuum pump is yet another revolutionary development. Its simple and modular construction has made it the best selling pump of our time. Introduction of the COBRA dry screw vacuum pump and the development of the rotary claw technology fundamentally changed the market for contact free and dry vacuum technologies.
In 1971, the company’s commitment to being where the customer needs it led to the founding of its first foreign subsidiary, Busch Ltd, in Great Britain.
