Kelly Burk started working on a steel crew as an Iowa teenager back in 1962, starting off his 47 years of experience in the steel building industry. From 1966 to 1968, Kelly served his country in the U.S. Navy Seabees in a construction battalion, erecting metal buildings in South Vietnam. Upon his return, he continued working on steel building crews in Iowa and for many years worked alongside his three brothers, all involved in the metal building industry. In 1981, Kelly formed a business and started out on his own with one truck, one forklift, one gooseneck and five employees.
In 1984, Kelly came to Springfield, Missouri, to fulfill an erection contract. The family oriented atmosphere and welcoming community instantly appealed to him. He also noticed the need for a steel building erection company that the Springfield community could depend on. So early in 1985, Kelly Burk incorporated in Missouri as Burk Erectors Inc.
Kelly and his wife, Vicki, Vice President of Burk Erectors Inc., have been married 28 years. They have seven children, 16 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Their sons Kelly Jr., Randy and Clint are all involved in some aspect of Burk Erectors, either as an officer, as a metal building salesman, or as an erector. Their daughter, Kasey, serves as office manager, and son-in-law, Larry, is a top superintendent in the company.
