Created in 2003 by the Huntz-Vandenbossche family, BR Met (Brussels Recycling Metal SA) is a leader in the Brussels region for the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment as well as for the shredding of cables . Purchased from companies and individuals, metal waste of all kinds is manually dismantled and sorted on site, to be then recycled for reuse by factories and foundries.

A recognized and approved company for the treatment of metal waste

• Member of Denuo (Belgian Federation of companies active in the treatment and recycling of waste), BR Met has all the approvals and authorizations necessary for the exercise of its activities.
• In the Brussels region, BR Met is the first metal recycling company to have authorization for the dismantling of electrical devices (WEEE).
• BR Met has been ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified since 2007.
• Also in 2007, the company BR Met was awarded by the IBGE (Brussels Institute for Environmental Management, now Brussels Environment) the label “Dynamic Eco Enterprise - 2 stars”. This label rewards companies that have voluntarily engaged in a process of gradually improving their environmental performance.
• As an extension of a committed environmental policy, BR Met has been constantly evolving in terms of recycling since its creation. It is thanks to this vision that the company obtained in 2015 the certificate as producer of End of Waste for copper. We produce copper with a maximum of 2% impurities, in accordance with current European legislation and regulations.
• Our company is approved for the transport and collection of waste, including WEEE, in the Brussels Region (IBGE), in Flanders (OVAM) and in Wallonia (OWD). We work in accordance with BRUDALEX and VLAREMA.
• Since March 2016, BR Met has been WEEELABEX certified, European certification for the treatment of electrical and electronic waste.

Constantly innovate to optimize the waste recycling process

Brussels Recycling Metal combines family knowledge and know-how with the constant search for new technologies and innovations to improve the recycling and treatment process. With an average of 25 million tonnes of plastic waste per year in Europe alone, it is up to us to find solutions for recycling this waste. We therefore invest in particular in researching the best technologies to optimize manual and mechanical processing, as well as the recycling of plastics.

Reduced capacity staff

Since 2009, BR Met has called on APAM, an adapted work company, for part of the dismantling of WEEE. The BR Met and APAM teams work together to find the best disassembly solutions for electrical and electronic waste, both professional and domestic.
