Originally, Louis Borsheim opened Borsheims in 1870 in downtown Omaha to serve the burgeoning population of this ever-expanding railroad town.

In 1947, Louis Friedman purchased Borsheims and his son, Ike Friedman, a master in business promotion, fueled the store’s worldwide reputation and dramatic growth over the next several decades.

When renowned investor Warren Buffett made Borsheims part of the Berkshire Hathaway Corporation in 1989, he said, “If you don’t know jewelry, know your jeweler.” As a longtime shopper of Ike Friedman, he may not have known jewelry, but he knew that Mr. I was exceptional businessman.

Today, Borsheims is one of America’s largest jewelry and gift stores – serving an international clientele that includes loyal customers in 50 states and five continents.

Borsheims is the largest independent jewelry store in the Midwest and one of the largest in the nation. This is measured in terms of square footage – measuring more than 62,500 square feet after the 2006 remodel.

It is also measured by inventory selection – which includes the widest selection of fine jewelry, watches and gifts, in addition to loose diamonds, settings and engagement rings. What’s more, Borsheims features a wedding registry, boasting china patterns, flatware and tabletop pieces.

Borsheims even offers a corporate gifts division, providing a service for companies to recognize and
reward their employees.

Since 1994, Susan Jacques G.G, F.G.A, has been president and CEO and continues to lead the company into the 21st century.
