History

B&M Metal Doors and Frames was founded by craftsmen who worked with metal doors every day. While B&M’s operations currently span over 10,000 square feet, the foundation of our company started on a much smaller scale in 1986. True to the old adage, “when one door closes, another one opens,” Mr. Lenny Miller started B&M when his previous employer closed-shop.

A skilled technician with a “never say die” attitude, Mr. Lenny continued to build custom metal doors, literally in his own backyard. Through word of mouth alone, demand for Mr. Lenny’s work grew. Constructing metal doors is not a quiet process! In order to keep the peace with his Metairie, Louisiana neighbors, Mr. Lenny and his new business partner moved their grinding and welding operations to a small commercial shop. As their business grew so did their need for space. B&M was relocated next door to our current location in Kenner, Louisiana.

“To become a Master Craftsmen with metal doors, a technician has to put in the hard time,” says Kris Miller, B&M Warehouse & Production Manager, and second generation door specialist, “there are so many little, intricate details that can mean the difference between success and failure. You can’t learn this industry in a classroom. You have to work through years of installations, good, bad and ugly, to develop the necessary reflexes. Working with my Dad over the years helped me understand the right questions to ask to ensure we’re going to have a satisfied customer at the end of the day.”
