Biopower Nordwestschweiz AG, an EBL, IWB and EBM company, uses several fermentation plants to generate renewable CO2-neutral energy and nutrients for nature in north-western Switzerland. Outside of Northwestern Switzerland, Biopower Nordwestschweiz provides its expertise as a consultant and planner.

The company history
Elektra Baselland (EBL) and Industrielle Werke Basel (IWB) founded Biopower Nordwestschweiz AG based in Liestal and registered it as a stock corporation in the commercial register on March 2, 2005. In mid-2007 Primeo Energie (formerly Elektra Birseck Münchenstein, EBM) took a stake in the company as the third shareholder.

Biopower Nordwesrschweiz AG procures renewable energy from the fermentation of organic residues in northwestern Switzerland with its own industrial and agricultural facilities.
Biopower wants to recycle the organic residues that arise in northwestern Switzerland as extensively as possible in its own plants.
Biopower evaluates, plans, finances and realizes its industrial plants in cooperation with contractual partners. Biopower takes over the operation of the systems itself or transfers it to contractually tied tenants or operators.
