The history of Bernina Recycling AG
1991
The Upper Engadin Waste Management Association (KVO) put out a tender for sorting building rubble and recycling reusable materials (cardboard, paper and electrical appliances). Montebello AG, Pontresina and Martin Conrad Transport AG, St. Moritz have been awarded the contract.
1992
The KVO creates the base plate for today's separation and sorting station. The newly founded BERNINA RECYCLING AG (BRAG) is building a ramp on this base plate. In September, BRAG will begin separating construction waste. It is read with an excavator and 2 men. BRAG is building a hall in Samedan. A cardboard baler will be installed in the new building in autumn. As early as winter, the collected cardboard is pressed into bales and the waste paper is loaded into large containers.
1994-2000
A building rubble sorting system from Jost, Heimberg, is set up in Bever. BRAG operates the Sass Grand sorting station in Bever, the Samedan collection point for special goods and collects paper, cardboard, tinplate / aluminum, PET, waste oil and others in the entire ABVO area.
2000 With the mandatory incineration for combustible waste stipulated by the federal government, the decision was made to switch to weight assumption in the future. For this reason, a steel bridge scale is set up. In November, the concession agreement between the Upper Engadin and Bergell Waste Management Association (ABVO) will be terminated because the ABVO has set up the waste handling station in Samedan. The hall in Samedan is being emptied and rented to third parties. A lease agreement has been agreed between ABVO and BRAG for the Bever area.
2001
At the Sass Grand sorting station in Bever, the assumption of volume (m3) is being switched to assumption of weight (to.).
2002
The rubble sorting plant is modernized. The sorting is shifted from one side of the ramp to the other. The inclined belt is extended and an inclined sorting machine from Bezner Maschinen GmbH, Ravensburg, is used as the new heart of the system. In spite of the renovation work, customer acceptance will be maintained on an ongoing basis.
2004
The operating license from the Office for Nature and the Environment of Graubünden will be extended until 2012.
2005
The lease for the sorting area is extended with the ABVO. A new generator to operate the sorting plant is purchased. The concrete slab in front of the sorting ramp is being renewed and a storage building for the operating materials and hazardous waste is being built.
2007
Montebello AG closes the acceptance for mixed demolition at the end of June, completely unexpectedly very large quantities are now arriving at the sorting station. This material must be screened and sorted. The processed, reusable mixed demolition is delivered to various concrete and gravel works in the canton. At times, the sorting station is almost bursting at the seams. A large mobile screening plant is purchased to cope with the large quantities of mixed demolition.
2008
Our construction machines are all equipped with a particle filter. The incoming material is still larger than the outgoing. The workforce will be temporarily increased, which has a positive effect. In August we can process a lot more than is delivered.
2010
We get the order to dismantle the helicopter platform on the roof of the hospital in Samedan. The demolition work could be carried out without any problems.
2011
A backhoe loader of the JCB brand will also be purchased to cope with the quantities. 2012 The operating license from the Office for Nature and the Environment of Graubünden will be extended by 10 years until December 2022.
2015
A non-ferrous metal stripping is set up. Alligator scissors are purchased for this and an employee is trained in this regard. Our company is presented to the public on the Engadiner Post's commercial page.
2018
In order to adapt the mixed demolition to the increasing quality requirements of the recycling building materials, a lightweight material separator (floating / sinking process) with an overbelt magnet is purchased.
