In late 2003 when the company that Mitchell Carr worked for decided to downsize, Mitchell decided to put the expertise he had developed over the 27 years of his employment to work for himself. With the help of his nephew, Travis Newman, Benton Steel Fabrication, Inc. was established in January 2004. The company was named for Mitchell’s father and Travis’s grandfather as a reminder that their company would be run in the same spirit that Benton Carr lived. Hard work, fairness, honesty and integrity were the guiding principles of Mr. Carr’s life and Benton Steel Fabrication, Inc. is dedicated to operating under those same principles.
Benton Steel’s thirteen dedicated employees (most of whom have been with the company since its inception) have combined total experience in excess of one hundred fifty years in the steel fabricating business. This experience is paramount in Benton Steel’s ability to get jobs done on time with excellent quality.
Customer diversity is key to Benton Steel’s success. The company started business by making components for battery racks, battery chargers and battery cabinets for the company that Mitchell had worked for and has expanded into making parts for medical apparatus and components for a major industrial equipment manufacturer among other things. Joey Hicks, plant engineer, welcomes the opportunity to work with customers in any industry on new or existing designs and/or prototypes.
