About Company

Bedminster International is headquartered in Dublin with offices in Boston and London and controls the world rights to the Bedminster BioEnergy Technology, including all intellectual property, patents and trademarks.

The Company’s main shareholder is the investment vehicle Oyster Environmental Ltd. of Dublin, Ireland. The investment bank Goldman Sachs is a minority shareholder in Bedminster International.

Bedminster Bio-Conversion (1970 to 1999) and Bedminster AB (1999 to 2003) developed the Bedminster Technology as a waste to compost solution for municipalities in the USA, Australia
and Japan.

In June 2003, Bedminster International Limited acquired the world rights to the Bedminster Technology including the patents and trademarks. Since 2003 Bedminster International has developed the Bedminster BioEnergy Solution® and signed a number of Agreements with strategic partners around the world.

The Bedminster BioEnergy Technology can be configured to produce either a BioEnergy or compost material. In each case the initial part of the process uses the patented Bedminster Digester to efficiently separate the waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable fractions.

Waste is received onto a tipping floor where any oversized items are removed before being transferred, un-shredded, to the Bedminster Digester. The Digester can be sized to suit the material to be processed, but typically a digester drum with a capacity of 50,000t/annum would be 70m (230ft) in length and 4.6m (15ft) in diameter.

In two days the Digester breaks down the biodegradable material by a combination of microbial and mechanical activity, to form a consistent BioMass material less than 12mm 25mm (1inch) in size that can be easily separated from the non-biodegradable fraction that remains essentially whole. This is achieved by passing the output from the Digester over a trommel screen; in this case the biodegradable fraction drops through the trommel and the un-shredded material such as plastic bags, bottles, cans and similar items pass over the screen.

The overs are passed through magnetic and eddy current separators so that metals can be recovered for recycling, whilst the balance synthetic material, mainly comprising plastic and non-biodegradable textiles, is baled and transported for further processing/recycling.

All communities have a greater awareness than ever before of the environment and expect the solutions procured by Local Governments to perform highly – particularly in the key areas of renewable energy, diversion from landfill and carbon footprint. Good carbon management can also lead to carbon credits as countries work to achieve Kyoto and similar type targets.
