Beckett Bronze Company was incorporated May 21, 1913 as the Delaware Brass and Aluminum Company by a group of stockholders which included John Beckett, a molder, and his son, Charles. Charles Beckett eventually bought out the other stockholders, including his father, and managed the company until his death in 1960. His daughter, Jo Ann Dixon, continued to manage the company until her sons, Steve and Leon Dixon, joined the company in the early 1970’s. Steve Dixon is currently the General Manager of Beckett Bronze.
Originally, the company produced only foundry castings at the 106 East 20th Street plant, but expanded to producing machined parts in the 1920’s. A Machine Shop building was leased until 1969 when a new Machine Shop building was built at 401 West 23rd Street.
Beckett Bronze produces cast bronze precision-machined parts and continuous cast bars. Castings are manufactured at the East 20th Street plant. The West 23rd Street plant produces finished machined parts and has about 75 machine tools including CNC lathes.
Beckett Bronze manufactures bronze bearings, bronze bushings, and bronze bars. Custom made cast bronze bearings, bushings, and bars are made from over 50 alloys in our own foundry.
