Beaver Oil Company is one of the largest treatment and recycling companies in the Midwest. We own and operate processing plants in Hodgkins Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and Gary Indiana. Our fully integrated transportation fleet serves both plants. The Gary plant is fully permitted to accept all types of non-hazardous wastes of an aqueous or petroleum composition. Located in an industrial area, this plant is contained within a five acre fenced site with six acres undeveloped. Separate buildings house the oil/solids separation processes and the wastewater purification plant. A host of various equipment and processes are employed to handle a wide range of wastes. During 2000 four new storage tanks were constructed, adding over one-point five million gallons of storage capacity and the latest containment technology is employed to provide secure storage. Our original plant as well as home office is located in Hodgkins Illinois. This essentially undeveloped site was acquired in 1978. Though physically smaller than Gary, a major segment of Illinois’s businesses rely on this site for their disposal needs. Working in conjunction with many local brokers and transportation/environmental firms, The Hodgkins plant routinely receives and processes over 100,000 gallons per day. In addition to holding permits for a wide range of non-hazardous wastes, Hodgkins is also permitted under RCRA to accept hazardous wastes. Hazardous wastes accepted include Flammable, corrosive, most characteristic, and several listed wastes. On the non-hazardous side, all types of aqueous and or oil bearing streams, soaps and cosmetics, latex and inks and many other contaminated liquids are accepted. Our customer base ranges from the corner auto shop to most of the petroleum majors as well as several of the major automobile manufactures. Our bigger customers routinely audit both sides, sometimes extensively. Projects completed over the years range from refinery shutdowns, cleaning millions of gallons, to salvaging rejected retail products packaged in quart bottles. To minimize potential environmental risk, and liability for our customers, we first subject all waste materials to laboratory analysis. Both Plants operate on-site quality control and verification laboratories, which contain an array of Gas Chromatographs; Atomic Absorption Spectrometers interfaced with robotics equipment to provide accurate and prompt analytical results on all incoming and outgoing products.
The recycling business is an ever-evolving industry. We are continually developing new processes to salvage waste materials and turn them into a fuel product. Working within the requirements of industrial burners, our plants reprocess wastes such as soaps, inks, and greases along with petroleum oils into a clean fuel.
Beaver Oil is one of the few companies in the Midwest area that actually processes and recycles the oils we collect. This is a tremendous benefit to the generator, not only reducing the hassle involved dealing with a third party but minimizing the liability inherent to having your oil delivered to unknown locations. We have many collection programs available to economically service both large and small customers. The sophistication of our plants allows us to accept and recover virtually any type of lubricant, regardless of the water content. Typical oils include motor, transmission, hydraulic, soluble oils, greases and many others. Additional services for our commercial customers include used anti-freeze and oil filter collection and recycling. Recycling of these materials are also conducted at our plants.
Beaver Oil Company has over 35 years of experience in the waste treatment business and one constant has been the quest for continuous improvement. Our treatment systems are regularly upgraded and modified combining emerging treatment technologies and processes pioneered through our years of experience. The net effect is lower unit cost of treatment and cleaner effluent that benefits the environment we all share. Proper treatment of a wide range of wastes requires an extensive host of capabilities. Technologies our plants employ include chemical treatment, thermal treatment, distillation, oxidation and carbon absorption. To further capture contaminates within the effluent; several types of solidification units are employed to effect final polishing. An outstanding record of compliance with local discharge limitations provides justification to our valued customers that their liabilities have been eliminated.
