Our History
When our founders spotted an opportunity on the mouth of Mississippi River, they knew they were onto something. In 1979, Bayou Steel was founded at LaPlace with the idea to transport raw materials, semi-finished and finished goods.
Several years later, we commissioned our first mill in this very spot, followed by the founding of our recycling operation in 1995. The late 90s brought about the launch of our industrial scrap collection and barge scrap wrecking operations as well.Fast forward to 2016 and we’re proud to be a small but nimble riverside mill able to access distribution depots in Tulsa, Chicago and Pittsburgh thanks to our strategic LaPlace location.
What We Value
Our values are the bedrock of our business. A people-centered approach to steelmaking, built on experience, service and partnership.
